Château La Pointe
A very beautiful dark colour, very dense, almost opaque. A tight carmine rim with good brilliance. The first nose is intense although a little shy for the moment, indicating the greatness of the vintage. Then we have crushed strawberries, raspberries, dark chocolate, roast herbs. At the end we find a touch of liquorice, and the first notes of truffle appear, still hidden under the richness of this wine. In the palate the entry is very plump, concentrated and rich with a texture of very tight- knit tannins. The finish is a real cocktail of red fruit, cocoa and roast spices. A good, long, lingering finish for this keeping wine. Already showing elegance, this bottle will develop to reveal its true character in around ten years from now.

Barrel sample. This is impressive—a ripe, open wine, but showing some lovely, polished new wood flavors, vanilla and just a touch of spice.

Wine Spectator
Offers a fabulous nose of toasty oak, coffee, cigar box and ripe fruit. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and loads of ripe fruit, toasty oak and spices. Long and silky. Very well done for this estate and better than the 2000. Best after 2013.

Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
