Ruby red in color. Complex and full-bodied with intense aromas of dried roses, liquorice, spice and truffles. Elegant with strong, yet balanced tannins.

and sharp cheeses.
Wine Spectator
There's excellent focus and freshness to this, with loads of fresh raspberry and blackberry and a hint of citrus fruit. Full-bodied and very silky, with a long, caressing finish. Slightly one-dimensional now, but will develop very nicely. Best after 2011.

Wine Advocate
The 2003 was also big and full-bodied, yet it showed remarkable freshness considering the vintage. Though a great effort in a difficult vintage, the 2003 clearly suffered when compared to the 2001 and the 2004 that followed.

International Wine Cellar
($110) Moderately saturated medium red. Tight aromas of redcurrant, licorice and cedary oak, with a whiff of herbs. Sweet on entry, then a bit lean and imploded in the middle, with the slight greenness joined by balsamic and white truffle notes. Not at all easy today, but the slightly dry tannins are fairly suave in the context of the vintage. Luca Currado describes this as "a wild animal for aging." 90(+?)? points

Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I rate wines using the 100-points scale. I have used this point system for close to 25 years. I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
